Perhaps if a number of the larger ring owners decide to purchase the ring and hosting, we can prevent this from happening again.

If you have saved the ring data, the critical asset is the domain name crickrock.com. Without controlling that, all the ring members would need to instantly change the ring code if the service is closed down.

As some of you know, Gunnar has contacted CrickRock's hosting company in a bid to access the CrickRock ring data. Apparently the Hostex 'account managers' are still reviewing this request.

James on behalf of Gunnar, and a few other concerned CrickRock ringmasters have phoned Brock only to get voice mail...

The CrickRock domain comes available at the end of September.

Myself I'm prepared to host the CrickRock webring system with gunnar.cc Hosting, and am also prepared if needed to contribute money towards the purchase of the CrickRock System and domain.
This new CrickRock system would have no advertisements, be faster with mod-perl, and you surely can not go wrong hosting a Ringlink system with a hosting company managed by the person who created the Ringlink program?

My suggestion is that one person negotiate on our behalf (Gunnar?)?
If Brock resurfaces if ever and accepts our offer, all those who have chosen to contribute would make a PayPal donation to the negotiator, who would then pay Brock on completion of the transfer of the domain name and website to us. (If you'd like to contribute, you'd tell the person selected to negotiate on our behalf the amount in a private message).
