This is obviously not a problem for the domains of the big web sites, managed by professional IT staff. But what about all the small domains? I mean, while many domain owners don't even know what DNS is, SPF data can't reasonably be added without a decision of respective owner. How will they get to know?

Yes, and my experience being a perfect example!
It all being in how SPF is explained, so it can be easily understood.
Once I understood, it all became rather obvious, simple, and uncomplicated...

My explanation as what to enter would be:

~~~~~~~
SPF is where you list all the domains where you have entered your website e-mail address as your contact e-mail address in scripts that will send messages with that address as the sender address.
~~~~~~~

I also do not think any small domain owner is going to bother with SPF until the webhosts provide a simple tool for entering updating and testing this info. Most new domain owners I guess are like me, not prepared to do anything for fear of screwing up something, and then once they have done something, must be able to test the changes to be totally convinced...

I found this site by enering 'sender-policy-framework.org' as a url address, which does I think do a better job of explaining/testing SPF than most:

http://sender-policy-framework.org/

Only 1 of my webhosts has contacted me about SPF, and we all know who that is. ;-)
I rather doubt any website owners would bother contacting their webhost about SPF, for the simple reason that they'd probably be at a lost for words as to exactly what they were requesting...
As someone pointed out contacting Support or the Sales department of a webhost would probably get you nothing, seeing that they have probably never heard of SPF, but of course would never admit it!!
"Oh yeah, SPF, we're working on it....very very nifty" then doing a quick Google search....
