One simple thing you can do is (temporarily) renaming the /data
directory to something else. The resulting error message may give
you a hint about the correct path.
Ah Hah! This experiment worked! It told me that the server was
looking for CrickRock.com and not crickrock.com .
Case-sensitivity!!!!! argg!
Yep, case matters on Unix/Linux boxes.
You should be aware, though, that I often emphasize that Ringlink
was not designed for running really large webring services.
you gave me this same warning when i first set out to make a large
ringlink system- and so far it's been able to handle it without any
problems.
I'm truly glad to be proven wrong on this one. So far, that is. ;-)
i can see maybe some issues arising but it'll be good to see how it
handles huh? the actual "living" rings is probably a LOT less than
2,000. I'll have to do some house cleaning.
Yeah, if you were away for 2.5 years, you certainly will...
p.s. while following the installation instructions carefully, i
found the step of creating a sitecount directory to be very
vague- i didn't get it until i read past support questions.
Okay, thanks for saying that. The principal info about it is in
the rlconfig.pm file.
What would you suggest?
I would suggest a step in the readme.html file saying something
about "directories you will have to create apart from using the
included directory structure:" this will include the sitecount
directory and the mo directory.
Mmmm... I'll think about that. Thanks!
I hope you go for version 3.04, since I just released it. :)
Who would have thought that you would release a new version 2
minutes before I posted that?! Of course I went back and installed
3.04 and it's working great now.
Glad to hear that. Even if you will take a large step, upgrading from
version 1.04, you shouldn't encounter any problems when upgrading your
'live' system.
