Hi Brock,
Welcome back!

Wow! That's makes probably CrickRock by far the largest Ringlink
system out there. You should be aware, though, that I often emphasize
that Ringlink was not designed for running really large webring
services. If you wonder what I mean by 'large', I don't know, to be
honest. What I'm trying to say is that I have never considered the
server efficiency issues etc. that I assume are relevant when a
webring system gets ... large enough.
i'm getting the error:
Error!
Problem with the $rlmain::sitecountpath variable in rlconfig.pm:
/www/crickrock.com/www/ringlink/sitecount does not exist.
It seems right based on the examples at your host's CGI manual.
One simple thing you can do is (temporarily) renaming the /data
directory to something else. The resulting error message may give you
a hint about the correct path.
Please let us know the result of that 'experiment'.
p.s. while following the installation instructions carefully, i
found the step of creating a sitecount directory to be very vague-
i didn't get it until i read past support questions.
Okay, thanks for saying that. The principal info about it is in the
rlconfig.pm file.
What would you suggest?
i'm setting up a test version of ringlink 3.03
I hope you go for version 3.04, since I just released it. :)
in feb of 2001 i moved to east africa for over two years doing
missionary work
That does sound exotic! Is there possibly a web site anywhere with
info about what it is you have been up to? ;-)
