==================
May I make a suggestion ? Why not make the COPPA Page load into a new
window ?
==================
DONE! On the rest of my site, it does. I just omitted that step when
editing the form. My bad. Thanks for that catch.

The COPPPA Page is great, thanks for the Insight into the problems we
need to think about and protect ourselves from.
================
Two points.
First, the Center for Media Education doesn't think much of my approach.
See their report on the "first year" of COPPA (April 2000 - April 2001)
http://www.cme.org/children/privacy/coppa_rept.pdf It includes a section
that says,
[quote]
7. In attempting to restrict children under 13 from entering personally
identifiable information, some Web sites use methods that could
encourage age falsification.
[end quote]
DUH!! I'm afraid MY site CLEARLY falls in that area. While I believe my
site complies with the law even though it may not "have to", and
complies in the EXTREME, my site also illustrates just how easy it is
for children who are 11 or 12 to lie about their age. I remember when
**I** was 11 and 12. I wasn't as nieve as the legislators seem to think.
Second , I'm sure you'll note a bit of sarcasm/cynicism on my page, both
with regard to content and regarding "style".
I have lots of personal fun when I name my page "COPPA Cabana" and when
I write paragraphs like this one:
[quote]
Oh, and one other thing: since I have the obligation to advise you that
the parent has the option to consent to the collection and use of their
child's "personal information" without consenting to the disclosure of
that information to third parties, let me formally advise you that the
parent has the option to consent to the collection and use of their
child's "personal information" without consenting to the disclosure of
that information to third parties.
[end quote]
Anyway, thanks for the "new window" heads up. I do appreciate it.
