Hmm.. Are you possibly on a WinNT server? Then you may need to contact
your web host and ask them to change the permissions of both the 'data'
directory and the 'mo' directory so that Ringlink is allowed to create
files and directories in those two directories.
Last I knew it was a Unix server. So unless they migrated without my
knowing about it ... I have a call in to them to try to find out if
anything has changed.

I changed the data directory (only) to 777. No difference.
