Customizing email responses

Hi Gunnar et al,

I've mentioned in a previous note to you (not on mailing list) about a problem I was having getting the default message when some site is "deactivated" when, for example, they remove the ring code from their pages during a remodel.

This is almost ALWAYS the reason I temporarily deactivate an account, otherwise they're either perfectly fine accounts or they need to be booted out completely. So this "middle" move to the inactive list is usually due to bad or missing code. Which means I want to say tell them their code is the problem and point them to the Site Admin page to grab new code.

So, having said all this, I want to be able to modify the message that's emailed when an account is deactivated. Currently, the message that's sent out is:

"Your site [site name] at [site URL] has been assigned the status "Inactive" in the webring [ring name]. Please let me know if you don't understand the reason for it."

That email message's source is found in the site.pm file at line 434.

As I discussed in the previous note, I would like to be able to not simply add a new message here (that would be easy enough to do, just rewrite the site.pm file bit above) but to also format this so I can have separate paragraphs so the URL I send them to (the Site Admin page where they can pick up fresh code) is on it's own line for clarity and to beef up this default message. I'd also like to be able to include their user ID and password in that email to make their logging in a little easier.

Is it possible to set this up the same way as the "add" email is done? That can be modified easily and gets popped into it's own text file (addmail.txt) and lets me put any standard info (site ID, site URL, etc.) where I want. Any reason these other standard email messages are "hard-coded" into the scripts and not readily modifiable? I'm guessing there is probably a reason for that, I just am not aware of it.

And how do I get my paragraphs in the "inactive" e-mail to stick if I have to use the site.pm file to generate my custom default email?

(PS: You're correct, I use IE and that may be the problem with the "long URLs" getting split up, so I'll live with that deal :)
