Re: Problems with ringlink and perl 5.6VR wrote: hmm... interesting... I was using filezilla to ftp the files over, haven't had any problems with a couple other scripts, anyone else use filezilla? Used CuteFTP when I uploaded it a few months ago. Switched to filezilla for the sftp stuff (and it being free). Never did actually look at the files in the shell (d'oh on my part). I'm afraid I can't help you much there. Personally I have just noticed that sometimes "ASCII transfer mode" does not work, and my own 'solution' is to ensure with my text editor that the files are saved in Unix mode *before* the transfer to the Unix environment. I'm going to copy that part of the email and send it to them and see if they can fix it. Be my guest. :) My somewhat irritated tone may be explained by the fact that the problem James reported was caused by the same thing... Note that there is basically no need to "fix" it any longer. It rather *would have been* nice to be spared the inconvenience to detect the problem... / Gunnar
