OK - I went back and checked the ringlink.org page and found
that you did make it work on a windows platform.

Now, I still have access to the old server by FTP, but I
can't browse it. Is there a way that if I upgraded the
ringlink on the old server that I could do a backup by
directly running a program since I can only get there through FTP?

Something changed between when I sent this message - that
was the URL I was using, it was when I entered the password
that I got the error - I'm not getting it now and I can get
to ring admin that way. However, when I try to access
ringadmin through this URL
http://www.wosib.org/cgi-bin/ringlink/ringadmin.pl - I get to
the page OK, but it doesn't accept the password - says that
the password is invalid...

So I tried going through master admin and changing the
password for the ring - and I get this error:

Can't open 'wosib
/ring.db'
No such file or directory at lib/rlmain.pm line 353.

That method of moving the files is problem - the old server
is a windows box, and I never upgraded it to the version that
supports a backup on a windows box. If you think that
upgrading the installation on the old server to the new
version and then performing the backup of the data files will
work on a windows server, I'll give it a try. Otherwise, I
need another idea....

Thanks

Pam

 I downloaded
all the files from the data directory to my server - then
installed
the newest version of Ringlink - and uploaded all the data
files into
the data directory where they were before. I can
navigate the ring
HOWEVER:

Problem #1

When I try to access ring admin - I get this error:

Execution of (/home/sites/site2/web/cgi-bin/admin.pl) is
not permitted
for the following reason: Script file not found.

How about trying this URL:
http://www.wosib.org/cgi-bin/ringlink/admin.pl

Problem #2

When I try to add a site, I get this error message:

Can't create 'wosib
/sites.db'
No such file or directory at lib/site.pm line 246.

There is a file wosib/sites.db I made sure that the file
was there and
had adequate permissions.

All the permissions on the directories have been set as
stated in the
installation instructions.

If you uploaded the files using FTP, it may be a file ownership
problem. When moving a Ringlink installation between two
servers, or
between directories on the same server, the simpliest way
to prevent
this kind of problem is to store the data in a backup
file using the
'Backup data' routine in admin.pl, and then upload that
file to the
data directory at the new location and run 'Restore data'.

Try that first, if it's possible. Let us know if it isn't.

/ Gunnar
