Arts and Humanities
· Artists · Education · Literature · Museums and Galleries · Music ·
Organizations · Photography · Publications · Theatre

Literature might be a bit broad. Poetry, Fiction, Novels,

Literature would be a subcategory with lower level categories to be added
Arts and Humanities/Literature

Arts and Humanities/Literature/Novels
Arts and Humanities/Literature/Poetry

"Artists" but not "Art"? "Photography" but not "Photographers"? Should
the index be the art or the artist?

Ok I agree.. let's try this...

Art - as a subcategory with lower level categories to added.

Business and Economy
· Companies · E-Commerce · Employment · International · Investments · Real
Estate · Other

What is the difference between "Companies" and "Other"?

Other was for a topics that did not fit into the listed subcategories such
as
MLM Programs or anything thing else that I might have missed as being a
popular sub category.

Computers And Internet
· Communications and Networking · Computer Graphics & Anime · Hardware ·
Homepages · Multimedia · Net and Web Rings · Organizations · Programming ·
Software · Web Design · Other

Personal preference: I prefer webring as a single word, and as a generic,
consider it to include all the versions. Just a personal preference.

No problem - the sub headings/titles can fixed - it is the grouping of
categories and subcategories that needs to be coherent.

Entertainment
Books and Magazines · Cartoons , Comics and Animation · Movies · Music ·
People · TV · Other

I'd separate books and magazines. I would separate comics and animation.
I note that music appears as a subcategory in both Entertainment and in Arts
and Humanities. Not necessarily wrong, but it may be confusing. Should one
of the subcategories just be a reference to the other?<<<<<

As far as books and magazines go there did not seem to be enough rings to
warrant separate categories in either the Y! directory or the RS directory I
haven't check Bravenets Directory in a long time. But I think that we can
use the number of rings listed in their categories to give us a guide to
work with. As I said I would want the categories in the directory to be
coherent and useful but only as large as we need. But then again I could be
wrong, it may be better to have to many categories in the beginning then to
have to re-categorize and move rings later.

I'm not sure if it possible but maybe the Directory Home Page can have a
*Submit Form* for suggesting new categories and have the submissions sent to
the Dir. Manager for approval.

I also felt that Music was duplicate category until it was pointed out to me
that the difference is in creation. Creating music is an art form and
listing is entertainment.. ;)

Family And Home

Singles? Dating?

Ok, I agree - fixed it ;)

Society and Culture
· Alternative · Charity · Civil Rights · Government · History · Holidays
and Observances · Issues · Military · Nature and the Environment ·
Organizations · Regional · Religion · Other

Law? Cyberlaw? Privacy?

Wouldn't Privacy be under Issues??
Society and Culture
Society and Culture/Issues/
Society and Culture/Issues/Privacy

Could we combine Law and Cyberlaw and use it as top level category?
