Hi all,

The implementation of the translation feature into Ringlink is
proceeding. Judging from previous discussions on this list, many users
are interested in the translation feature, so I thought I'd give you a
chance to check it out.

I decided to use GNU gettext for creating and maintaining the language
files. Many thanks to Dave Kay for calling my attention to it. I have to
admit that I first found gettext confusing (written in C, for instance),
but after having studied it more thoroughly, I'm convinced that it's an
excellent solution! (And there is a Win32 version available...)

If you want to really know what GNU gettext is about, check out
http://www.gnu.org/manual/gettext-0.10.35/html_mono/gettext.html

"Ringlink Demo" at http://www.ringlink.org/demo/ now includes a
half-finished translation feature. If you log in to "Demoring", go to
'Edit ring', and select language Swedish, you'll notice a difference.

Those who wish, can also download and install a version "2.0 in
progress" at
ftp://ringlink.sourceforge.net/pub/ringlink/ringlink_2_0_in_progress.zip
You can for instance create a .po file from ringlink.pot for some other
language and play with it in order to study how the feature works.

I appreciate any comments you might have.

/ Gunnar
