It was set up to prevent anyone but the allowed referrers use it.
Somehow these people got around that. Whether that is a script issue,
or a server issue is up for debate....I have used Matt's script and got
the referrers to work.

(Right now it's disabled for obvious reasons.)

FormMail.pl can be made relatively secure by altering the 'allowed
referers'

the section under 'setting up the script"
I don;t know how you had formmail setup but it defaults to allowing
anyone
to utilise the script. You need to 'lock down' the allowed referers to
only
allow the specified hosts to initiate mail sending.
